Paul Gauthier, raised in foster and group homes, pioneered independent living at nineteen, adopted a foster son with disabilities, one of the fathers of the closest thing to independent funding Canada has, married and had another son, tirelessly advocates for voters with disabilities, won a gold medal in Paralympic boccia for Canada. And yet every day he lives with the fear that a civil servant can take away at their discretion the services Paul Gauthier used that made these accomplishments possible.

Since Hope Is Not A Plan’s release in 2013, Paul Gauthier has founded and become the Executive Director of the Individualized Funding Resource Centre (IFRC) Society to help people succeed on the Choices in Support for Independent Living (CSIL) Program and other individualized funding programs in British Columbia.
